Say Merry Christmas to the Southern Poverty Law Center

2017 has been a highly tumultuous year for those fighting for religious liberty. It has become even more clear that Christian views about sexuality are no longer to be tolerated. Christians simply trying to live with integrity have been called vile names and the organizations seeking to protect the ability of those Christians to live in line with their moral convictions have been called hate groups.

During 2017, the Southern Poverty Law Center has been one of the most openly hostile groups to Christian beliefs. They published a hate group heat map that includes many mainstream, evangelical groups. During the holidays, they aren’t letting up. They just published a 2017 round up of hate groups around the country.

This group includes the Alliance Defending Freedom and the Family Research Council. This Holiday Season, let’s wish them a Merry Christmas and ask them to resolve in the New Year to stop slandering kind, loving people who hold different convictions than they do. During this season of peace and love, even the SPLC should be able to respect the ability of some Americans to disagree with them on sexual morality.

In this particular list, the SPLC focuses around groups that recently came together to support and defend cake baker Jack Philips. As we have reported before, Jack Phillips is a Christian baker in Colorado who has been fined, harassed and defamed for his Christian conviction. He creates magnificent cakes that can only accurately be described as works of art. He declined to create a cake for a gay wedding ceremony because, as a Christian, he believes that marriage is only between one man and one woman. He was found guilty of discrimination by the state court in Colorado. The Supreme Court recently heard arguments in his case. Citizen GO was at the Supreme Court steps demonstrating in his defense.

The SPLC considers people like Jack haters. It’s clear that the SPLC is obviously deploying anti-Christian bias and attempting to silence people who they disagree with—rather than actually engaging with conservative arguments. Indeed, the FBI and U.S. Army refuse to use the SPLC as a resource any longer because it is so politically motivated.

During this holiday season, let’s reach out to the SPLC and which them and Merry Christmas and gently remind them that we are not haters and that we can coexist with different points of view. After all, aren’t they the ones who claim to fight for “tolerance.”

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

2017 has been a highly tumultuous year for the entire country. We have seen deep divides in America that are very troubling.

One divide, that we hope we can mend, is the divide between those on the sexual left and conservative Christians. During 2017, you published a hate group heat map that includes many mainstream, evangelical groups. This month, you published a 2017 round up of hate groups around the country –that again included mainstream Christian groups.

We can coexist with different points of view on sexuality without being evil or haters. Shouldn’t we be able to live in a tolerant society where we can disagree, have a good argument, but at the end of the day respect and tolerate each other?

During the New Year, will you resolve to stop slandering kind, loving people who hold different convictions than you? During this season of peace and love, we should be able to respect the ability of some Americans to disagree with one another on sexuality.

Warmest Seasons Greetings and Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,
